Who we are

This website (scdsdeca.lovable.app and scdsdeca.com) is operated by the Sacramento Country Day School DECA chapter ("Cavalier DECA", "we", "us"), a student organization advised by Brian Hemsworth. It is not an official product of DECA Inc.

Information we collect

Google account data: if you choose "Continue with Google", we receive only your name, email address, profile picture, and Google account identifier, using the standard openid, email, and profile scopes. We do not request or access Gmail, Google Drive, Calendar, Contacts, or any other Google data.

Email sign-up data: if you create an account with email, we store your name, email address, and a securely hashed password.

Content you submit: practice exam answers, AI Coach questions, uploaded PDFs, roleplay audio/video recordings, generated feedback, Fantasy DECA point claims, and Cavaliers & Co. order details.

Technical data: basic sign-in session information needed to keep you logged in. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

How we use information

To sign you in and confirm you have a Sacramento Country Day School email (@scdsstudent.org or @saccds.org).

To save your practice history, generate AI practice feedback on content you submit, track Fantasy DECA points, and manage chapter orders.

We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to running this chapter website.

Google API Services — Limited Use disclosure

Cavalier DECA's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Google user data is used only to provide sign-in and identify your account. It is never sold, never used for advertising, never transferred to data brokers or information resellers, never used to determine creditworthiness, and never used to train AI models. No human reads your Google data except when you ask for help, for security purposes, or when required by law.

How information is shared

We do not sell or rent personal information.

Service providers: data is stored with our secure hosting and database provider, and content you submit to AI Coach (text, PDFs, recordings) is sent to an AI processing service solely to generate your feedback. These providers process data only on our behalf.

Within the chapter: your practice files, recordings, and feedback are private to your account. Chapter officers and the advisor can see order records and Fantasy point claims they manage.

Public: Fantasy DECA team standings and player names with points are displayed publicly on the site.

Legal: we may disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of students.

Security

Data is transmitted over HTTPS and stored with access controls so each user can only read their own private data. Uploaded files are kept in private storage. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

Data retention and deletion

We keep your data while you are an active chapter member or until you ask us to delete it.

To delete your account and all associated data, or to request a copy of it, email bhemsworth@saccds.org. We will complete deletion within 30 days. You can also revoke this site's access to your Google account at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions.

Children's privacy

This site is intended for Sacramento Country Day School high school students and staff. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the latest version, and significant changes will be noted on this page.
